Wheel-thrown tumbler, carved and inlaid with porcelain to resemble a purslane moth using a mishima technique. Made with a blend of midfire stoneware and an interior shino glaze.
Each mishima piece involves hand carving a design at the leather-hard stage, inlaying a porcelain slip, and carving away the excess to create one smooth surface. I wanted to juxtaposition of stoneware and porcelain to resemble delicate desert flora in our otherwise harsh landscape.
Dishwasher safe and microwave safe. Handwashing is recommended.
